Amitriptyline and Nortriptyline

Clinical Chemistry

Description

Indications

Therapeutic monitoring of amitriptyline in blood samples is generally limited to cases where compliance is an issue. Although there is considerable inter-individual variation in blood levels for the same dose, measurement of blood concentrations (therapeutic drug monitoring) is rarely indicated. Measurement of blood amitriptyline and nortriptyline concentrations are not useful in cases of confirmed or suspected overdose.
