Plasma, Lithium Heparin, minimum 1 mL separated. Send to Laboratory promptly. Urine, plain, random or 24 hour collection.

Quantitation of all amino acids ( full quantitation ) or only the branched chain amino acids ( part quantitation ) is available in plasma. Part quantitation is usually used for monitoring known maple syrup urine disease patients. Sent to: Sheffield Children's Hospital For more information contact Sheffield Children's Hospital Laboratory. FOR LAB USE ONLY: Centrifuge plasma sample promptly and remove plasma with a pipette. Do not disturb buffy coat. Serum may also be acceptable, but must be indicated clearly on request form. Store urine and plasma at -20C if not sending immediately.
