Ganglioside Antibodies GQ1b (IgG or IgM)

Description
IgG antibodies to ganglioside GQ1b are associated with Miller-Fisher syndrome and specifically those with opthalmoplegia. IgM antibodies to GQ1b are seen in some chronic ataxia neuropathies which share some common clinical features with the Miller-Fisher syndrome.
Indications
Miller-Fisher Syndrome.
Sample Type
2mL Serum (Gel 5mL Yellow tube).
Requests from outside Sheffield: transport at ambient temperature via Royal Mail or Courier.
Reference Range
Normal result = Negative.
