Candida Precipitins
Immunology
Description
This test is of limited clinical utility as antibodies can be seen in normal individuals. The presence of antibodies may be seen in chronic Candida infections. Candidiasis can take the form of superficial infection of the skin, deep fungal infection (an aspergilloma) or an invasive systemic infection (usually only in the immunosuppressed). Antibodies to Candida can be found in the absence of disease, simply because of exposure to commensal yeast flora [1].
