Lymphoproliferative investigation (Peripheral blood lymphocytosis, CLL, Lymphoma)
Haematology
Description
The lymphoproliferative protocol is performed on patients presenting with a peripheral blood lymphocytosis, or patients presenting with clinical symptoms, who are suspected of having a malignant B or T lymphoproliferative disorder. Testing is performed on blood if there are abnormal circulating cells or bone marrow otherwise. The aim is to demonstrate a monoclonal population and classify the underlying lymphoproliferative disorder. The lymphoproliferative workup consists of a detailed morphology report, membrane immunofluorescence and surface membrane immunoglobulins. All of which are essential in establishing a diagnosis.
