Description
A cross-match is the generic term used to request red cells for transfusion. Patients with red cell antibodies will require additional serological testing prior to red cell issue. Red cells may be issued using an electronic process for patients without red cell antibodies.

Patients must have a current valid Group and Save sample. Please inform Blood Bank by phone when the request is urgent. Routine requests should be submitted with at least 24 hour notice. Please note the presence of red cell antibodies may delay the provision of blood.
