Plasminogen Activity

Coagulation

Description

Automated chromogenic assay for the quantitative determination of plasminogen in human citrated plasma on ACL TOP.

Plasmin is a serine protease and is the predominant fibrinolysis enzyme in the human circulation. The zymogen plasminogen circulates in blood and is converted to plasmin by the plasminogen activators tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and urokinase type plasminogen activator (u-PA).

Indications

The most common manifestation of plasminogen deficiency is ligneous conjunctivitis but pseudoemebranes can develop in a variety of areas.
