Relevant clinical details are essential to enable effective processing. When biochemistry, crystals or Histology are also required, the whole sample can be sent to Microbiology, with additional request forms, who will apportion aseptically and forward. If TB is suspected, cultures of fluid is very insensitive. Synovial, pleural, ascitic ( or other ) biopsies should be sent wherever possible. Microscopy results can be available in
