Spectroscopy on CSF - Investigation of CSF for Xanthochromia is performed by biochemistry after prior discussion with Clinical Chemistry medical staff. Specimens should be delivered inside a brown envelope ( in the outer specimen bag ) to avoid degradation of the light sensitive bilirubin. The test is not normally available outside normal working hours - discussion would be required with the 'on call' biochemist.
