Description

This screen is designed to detect the most commonly encountered drugs of abuse and therapy. However, this screen is not exhaustive and thus may not detect all compounds. Please indicate with the request if screening for specific drugs or poisons is required and/or contact the Toxicology laboratory to discuss specific cases if required. Notable exclusions from this screen include some synthetic cannabinoids (“spice”), NSAIDs, GHB, aspirin, digoxin, lithium, theophylline, phenytoin, valproate, chloral hydrate, steroids, hormones, most inhaled and volatile substances (including carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide and “poppers”).

Results provided by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are for clinical purposes only. Results are not suitable for and should not be used for medico-legal purposes.
