Description

This test will establish baby's ABO and RhD type which is required prior to neonatal blood component issue. The test also includes a Direct Coombs test ( DAT ) which is used to detect the presence of incomaptible maternal antibodies and hence to possibility of haemolytic disease of the newborn ( HDN ).


Indications

Performed when maternal red cell antibodies are present or any case with unexplained anaemia. Also performed prior to blood component issue ( please contact blood bank for requirements )
