This service has now been withdrawn. All acute diagnoses of respiratory virus infection are made by means of the Respiratory Virus PCR screen. Serology is now only performed for diagnosis of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, Brucella, Psittacosis(chlamydia psitassi) and Q fever(Coxiella burnetii). Acute and Convelescent samples required. Acute sample within 5 days onset. Convalescent sample >10 days post onset. Date of onset MUST be stated on request form. The majority of serological tests are batch processed. Please contact the laboratory if urgent testing is required. Please refer to specific tests for sample requirements.
