Free androgen index is calculated using measurements of testosterone and SHBG
FAI = (Testosterone/SHBG)*100
Indications
Free androgen index may be useful in the investigation of hirsuitism, virilisation, menstrual distrubances or infertility in females.
Free androgen index is of limited value in men.
Sample Type
Serum, SST/Gel, Minimum 2mL (1 mL separated serum)
