Description

Salicylates include the active metabolite of aspirin and some (but not all) of the other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Salicylate overdose may cause acid-base disturbances, nausea and vomiting, tinnitus, cardiac dysrhythmias, renal failure, pulmonary oedema, and cerebral oedema, amongst other features.


Indications

Suspected salicylate poisoning.

Serum SST/Gel, minimum 2mL (1mL separated serum)
