External Notes

Examination for Mycobacteria is not undertaken unless specifically requested. Induced sputum is routinely examined for fungi, Mycobacteria and Legionella. Always provide adequate clinical information.


Patient Preparation

Follow standard nursing procedures to obtain sample.Effort should be made to avoid salivary specimens which may give misleading results.
