Description

Ferritin is a high-molecular weight iron-containing protein that functions in the body as an iron storage compound. Ferritin is best measured in conjunction with iron, total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and TIBC saturation.


Indications

Aiding diagnosis of iron deficiency and iron overload. Differentiating iron-deficiency anaemia and anaemia of chronic disease.


Sample Type

Serum, SST/Gel, minimum 2 mL (1 mL separated)
