Brian has been working in blood transfusion at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals since 1982, overseeing many changes in laboratory testing including the introduction of automation and IT to improve the efficiency and safety of blood component issue. I have also seen significant changes in blood transfusion practice with the introduction of the Blood Quality and Safety regulations and the patient blood management initiatives. Manager of both blood banks at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Brian is the Chair of the Trent Transfusion Managers Group and the Yorkshire and Humber representative on the Transfusion Laboratory Managers sub group of the National Blood Transfusion Committee.
