Simon Tazzyman BSc Biomedical Sciences, PhD Tumour Inflammation

Research Coordinator

Simon has worked in research since completing his undergraduate degree at Sheffield Hallam University. After developing his research experience he decided to complete a PhD, which he accomplished in 2008. Following this, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sheffield for 9 years and has totalled over 18 years of research experience. He have worked across all areas of research from basic research to animal models to human studies. This has involved working in fields including tumour biology and new therapies, development of assays to replace the use of animals in research to treatments for irritable bowel disease. This variety of work has allowed him to publish in excess of 30 research articles throughout his career. Ultimately Simon wanted to be in an environment where he saw research having an impact on patients and this led him to his current position as Research Coordinator for Laboratory Medicine at STHFT. His role here is to promote the directorate’s research strategy and to act as a point of contact for researchers looking to use our service or collaborate with us on projects. Working with our Academic Lead and Laboratory managers Simon is helping to develop our own internal research, increase our interactions with the regions Universities and provide a quality support service for all the clinical trials that are running here in Sheffield. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Simon_Tazzyman2?ev=hdr_xprf
