Gill joined Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in 2003 as a Trainee Biomedical Scientist in Immunology where she was successful in becoming a registered Biomedical Scientist. In 2011 she was appointed a Senior Biomedical Scientist in Toxicology within Clinical Chemistry at the Royal Hallamshire site. In 2017 she became Specialist Scientific Lead for Specialised Clinical Chemistry before being appointed Lab Manager for Specialist Blood Science in 2024. 

Gill has a long-standing interest in Quality Management and is a trained UKAS technical assessor in Biochemistry for ISO 151589:2022.  She also holds a IBMS Certificate of Expert Practice in Quality Management and an ILM L3 in Leadership and Management.
