Laboratory Manager - Blood Sciences (Northern General Hospital)


Imran started working for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals in 2010 after completing his initial training at The Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Following the completion of this Specialist Portfolio and MSc, he became a Senior managing Specialist Endocrinology in the Clinical Chemistry department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in 2014.

In 2014 he also took over management of the Gestational Trophoblastic Screening (GTD) Oncology service based out of Weston Park Cancer Hospital. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are world leaders in the investigation and treatment of these rare conditions being one of only two hospitals in the UK designated to treat GTD.  In 2018 he became the United Kingdom Scientific Lead on hCG in GTD regularly lecturing both nationally and internationally.

Imran then became Acting Scientific Lead for the Clinical Chemistry Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in 2018 overseeing Pre-analytics, Automation, Specialist Endocrinology and POCT before becoming Blood Sciences Manager at the Northern General Hospital in 2021.
