Consultant Virologist & Clinical Lead - Virology


Mohammad qualified as a doctor from King Edward Medical College in Lahore Pakistan in 1996, obtained his MRCP diploma from Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, FRCP from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow and worked as a trainee in various medical specialties.

He later trained in medical virology at London, a specialty which deals with all aspects of human viruses but focuses on diagnostics, antivirals, infection control and public health. His London training was based at the Royal Free Hospital which is a big centre with important patient groups relating to virology including Stem Cell Transplantation, Renal Transplants, Liver Transplants, Viral hepatitis infections, HIV and Tropical Medicine.

He took up my current Consultant job in Virology in 2007, with special interests including Influenza, CMV, hepatitis B, infections in immunocompromised and use of POCT in Microbiology

Mohammad also has special interest in information technology and its use within healthcare and also being a keen programmer.
