Acting Laboratory Manager - Virology


Rebecca started working in Virology at STH as a trainee BMS in 2008, after completing a BSc in Biomedical Science at Nottingham Trent University. She completed her Registration portfolio and Specialist portfolio in Virology in quick succession from which she then completed an MSc in Medical Molecular Microbiology at Nottingham University.

In 2014, Rebecca progressed to a senior BMS position and also took on the role of Training Lead for Virology supporting a number of staff through their specialist portfolios as well as completing the IBMS certificate of Expert Practice in Training and also the TAQA assessors award. During her time as a senior BMS, Rebecca led in all the different sections in Virology with a particular interest and passion for Molecular diagnostics, getting involved in a number of different projects and lab developments. In 2020, Rebecca was appointed Deputy Laboratory Manager. Taking on this new role in the midst of a pandemic was an unforeseen challenge with which she met with enthusiasm. In August 2022 Rebecca was appointed the role of Acting Lab Manager for Virology. 

Extremely proud of the passionate and hardworking team, Rebecca is looking forward to helping further develope Virology at STH with a number of exciting developments in the pipeline.
